All-Ireland winning Kilkenny captain Andy Comerford has fired a stinging broadside at rivals Tipperary, suggesting they cave in when the pressure’s on.

The 2002 Cats skipper also criticised the decision of the Tipperary County Board to ratify Michael Ryan as manager for 2016 at the end of last year.

“I thought they were the lay of the year. During the league they had all this high-profile stuff that ‘we have to win silverware, we have to win this and we have to do that’. The manager said he was handing it over to the players and how they were putting 100 percent into the league. They came down to Kilkenny for the semi-final, but when the pressure came on, Waterford kicked on.
