Danny Culloty says Kerry have experience edge over Cork

Cork junior football selector Danny Culloty believes Kerry have a distinct experience advantage over them in this evening’s Munster final.

Danny Culloty says Kerry have experience edge over Cork

Since 2005, Cork and Kerry have shared the provincial title, remarkably winning it in alternate seasons since then.

If the pattern continues, it’ll be Paul McCarthy’s side claiming victory but two-time All-Ireland winner Culloty knows history is not worth much in such affairs.

He appreciates Cork’s semi-final victory over a dogged Limerick, sealed by a late surge, was good preparation for another bout with Kerry but is mindful of the quality of players they’ll be bringing to Páirc Uí Rinn.

“It was a good win, you would think, but at junior level you never know from year to year where it stands,” he said. “Kerry have the same panel as last year so you’d expect them to be strong. They were beaten in last year’s All-Ireland so you know how good they are. “

Cork are certainly blessed with a variety of firepower in the likes of Alan Barry and Mark Sugrue. Seamus Hickey impressed with four points from play when coming off the bench against Limerick. It appears a forward line that will cause Kerry issues.

“It’s all on the day and how they react. You’d be hoping a few of them progress to senior level like those that did the same from the team two years ago. I played it myself and it was a great bonus for me. I think it’s a great competition. Hopefully, it’ll be continued and guys will progress from it.”
