Jacob urges caution from Model fans

The man who brought Brian Cody to his knees 11 years ago is worried about the expectation placed on Wexford by their own supporters ahead of Sunday’s Leinster semi-final.

Jacob urges caution from Model fans

Michael Jacob, who scored that dramatic last-gasp winning goal in the 2004 provincial semi-final in Croke Park, believes there is too much anticipation of a shock result in Nowlan Park.

“They have to play better than they have been playing to win,” he says of Wexford, who are managed by his Oulart-the-Ballagh club-mate Liam Dunne. “They haven’t been playing particularly well this year. Kilkenny might not be as strong as they were four or five years ago but they’re still hard to beat. If Wexford concentrate on performance first, they will go a long way to getting what they want. Do that and at least they’re in with a chance.
