Bonner blasts ‘toxic’ abuse of young Donegal star

Former Donegal star Brendan Devenney, speaking to the Irish Examiner this week, alleged a Donegal minor footballer had been taunted about the death of his father during a recent game and Bonner last night revealed the player was team captain Carroll. Bonner, writing in today’s Donegal News, claims two Tyrone players goaded the midfielder regarding the death of his father, early last year.

The former Donegal footballer passed away in February 2014 after a battle with cancer. Bonner blasted the treatment of the Gaoth Dobair 17-year old as ‘toxic’: “If that is what is going to happen in games, then I don’t want to be part of it.”
