Goalkeeper Barry Hennessy of Kilmallock is given his championship bow due to the injury suffered by Nickie Quaid, while Patrickswell duo of Seánie O’Brien and Cian Lynch — last year’s minor captain — are also newcomers, at left half-back and left corner-forward, respectively.
The Treatymen’s side features 11 of the team which began against Kilkenny in last year’s All-Ireland semi-final. Aside from Quaid, David Breen — also injured — Wayne McNamara and Kevin Downes are the absentees. After missing the league campaign due to a knee operation, Downes is named as a sub.
