Relief as Carbery Rangers edge it

Carbery Rangers 1-7 Clyda Rovers 0-8: An opportunist 45th minute goal by Declan Hayes proved the decisive score in this sterile and disappointing Cork SFC second round tie at Coachford yesterday.

There appeared to be no danger as Clyda goalkeeper Conor O’Donoghue lined up a kick-out into the strong wind but his poorly struck kick deflected into the hands of Hayes who dispatched it to the net to give his side the lead for the first time.

Last year’s defeated finalists drove on from there to ensure their name is in the hat for the fourth round draw.
