A devastating run of six points without reply prior to the interval was the foundation stone for the win and the losers can have few complaints about the outcome.
The conditions meant the game was in doubt for a spell but when the tie eventually started it was Kildorrery who showed their hand first, with scores from Peter O’Brien and Tom Monaghan.
Kinsale were totally reliant on their full forward Gearóid Finn for scores and though he was off target with his first effort he had the sides level with points in the 11th and 13th minutes
Kildorrery responded through Monaghan who had a lively first half with two scores from play by the 17th minute.
Finn pointed once more for Kinsale in the first half, but Kildorrery did the damage from the 24th minute onwards, adding six further points without reply to lead by seven at the break.
And there was no let up by the North Cork men on the restart with two quick points followed by a super James O’Sullivan goal which opened a 13-point lead.
Finn landed four frees without reply, but Kildorrery never looked in danger and quickly reasserted themselves with scores from Andrew and Peter O’Brien.
Kinsale added two further scores before Kildorrery’s Shane Fitzgerald sent over the final score of the game.
Kinsale face Kilnamartyra in the second round, but Kildorrery will present a serious challenge for those progressing into the fourth round.
