Henry Shefflin set to choose between RTÉ and Sky
The recently-retired star is in discussions with both broadcasters as he plans for life after intercounty hurling.
He wouldn’t be drawn on his decision but has worked with Sky in the past, appearing in a HD TV advertisement with Bernard Brogan in 2012.
“They (RTE and Sky Sports) both asked me would I like to do a bit of work and I would,” revealed Shefflin, who has also been offered newspaper and radio work.
“It’s only happened in the last couple of days. I’m looking at one or two options, what best suits myself.
“It’s commitment-wise again. I’d said to (his wife) Deirdre at home that my commitments were going to finish – if you’re involved with that it’s a commitment again. It’s just to weigh that up and see what suits best.
“I’m hoping to do a bit of work this summer, definitely. I’m going to miss it so I’d like to be involved in it.
“Being part of the games, not just Kilkenny but the other games as well, will give me a good footprint into it.”
Shefflin admits commenting on Kilkenny so soon after he left the panel would be tough. “I would imagine the Kilkenny thing would be very difficult. It’s analysis for me, that’s what I’d like to do. You know me I’m not going to be critical. If the lads have bad performances that’s the way it goes.
Sky launch their 2015 championship coverage in London on Tuesday.
