The St Kieran’s half-forward was on the receiving end of a wild pull late on in their semi-final victory over Presentation Athenry. The diagnosis: a broken finger, throwing his involvement in the decider into doubt.

Morrissey was introduced as a second-half sub in last year’s showpiece and having nailed down a starting berth for this campaign, and the captaincy, he was more than willing to forge through the pain barrier on Saturday.
