Croke Park to host televised semi-finals
Cork, who had already booked a semi-final place before yesterday’s action, will face last year’s All-Ireland finalists Donegal in the opening game (2pm) while reigning Division 1 champions Dublin will meet Monaghan at 4pm
Both games will be televised live on TG4
Since the introduction of semi-finals in 2012, all six previous league semi-finals have been played in GAA headquarters.
Meanwhile, there will be five Ulster teams in Division 2 next season following the relegation of Tyrone yesterday. Mickey Harte’s side will join fellow demoted team Derry in the second tier along where they will face Armagh and Fermanagh next year after both confirmed promotion from Division 3. Cavan remain in Division 2 following their defeat to Meath yesterday.
Down will return to the top flight for the first time since 2013 as Division 2 table-toppers where they will be joined by John Evans’ Roscommon who were also victorious yesterday. Kildare and Westmeath drop to Division 3 following respective defeats to Galway and Roscommon.
In Division 3, Wexford’s expected drop was confirmed despite their win over a weakened Tipperary side yesterday. Limerick’s impressive win away to Louth saw the home side relegated instead. Offaly’s victory over Antrim sees them join Longford in Division 3 in 2016. The Division 3 and 4 finals will take place on April 25, while the Division 2 final, like the top-flight decider, is fixed for Sunday, April 26.
