Odhran Kidney-Power hero for Cobh

Coláiste Mhuire, Cobh 3-13 De La Salle, Macroom 1-11:

In a game that was tightly contested up to half-time, the return of 3-4 from Kidney-Power was crucial, along with five splendidly pointed frees from Ciarán Power. Kidney-Power struck twice in the first-half to open up an interval lead of 2-5 to 1-6.

Greg Fitton caught the eye for De La Salle, scoring seven points, while captain Alan McCarthy was solid at centre-back and Tiernan Quinn’s goal yielded a positive start. However, the east Cork side’s greater all-round strength told as they outscored their opposition 1-8 to five points in the second half of an entertaining decider.
