Cork wait on Joyce scan results

Cork hurling management are awaiting the results of a scan on defender Christopher Joyce’s knee after the defender was injured in Saturday night’s NHL win over Dublin.

Cork wait on Joyce scan results

Stephen McDonnell deputised ably for Joyce in Croke Park but manager Jimmy Barry-Murphy said after the Dublin game he was concerned about Joyce. “Dr Con [Murphy] and Deccie [O’Sullivan, physio] said he’d have to go for a scan and we’ll know more then. We’re hoping for the best. It’s a knee injury, you’d always be concerned. It was just an awkward fall, he collided with his man in the air.”

Meanwhile, Kilkenny defender Paul Murphy says he and his teammates aren’t panicking after Sunday’s league defeat by Galway. “We didn’t get blown out the gates or anything. Whether you lose by 10 points or one, it’s all the same. We didn’t get the points so we’re disappointed but lads are fighting for jerseys at the moment. We’re probably not at 100% yet but that’s not an excuse — we want to be winning these matches but Galway were just better.”
