St Peter’s wear down dogged Borris

St Peter’s College (Wexford) 2-18 Borris Vocational College 0-15: SHEER persistence paid off for St. Peter’s as they secured a flattering nine-point win over a resilient Borris VC in this Leinster SHC ‘A’ semi-final at O’Kennedy Park, New Ross, Saturday.

Borris were in contention until the 58th minute when Joe O’Connor pulled a low ball to the net, securing St. Peter’s first final appearance since 2004.

A well-drilled Borris side started brightly, with centre-forward Kevin McDonald impressing. But a quickfire 1-3 gave St. Peter’s an advantage they never lost. Matthew Joyce (free), John Lee Meyler and Conor Hearne hit points before Joe O’Connor found Meyler, who picked out Matthew Joyce to his right, and the full-forward soloed his way through before cleverly scooping the sliothar to the net.
