Holders UCD go down to UL

Harding Cup: It turned out to be a bad day for Dublin based sides as the Irish Universities Harding Cup got under way at UCC.

Holders UCD, bidding for a three in-a-row, were surprisingly knocked out by University of Limerick.

Jamesy McConigle did the damage, hitting a goal in each half to stun the Belfield side who saw Greg Sloggett and Brendan Martin fail to hit the target with a couple of late chances.
