McWeeney’s late point earns Leitrim draw with Longford

Leitrim 0-15 Longford 1-12: Allianz Football League Division 4: A late Seán McWeeney point earned Leitrim a draw with their neighbours Longford in a nip-and-tick Division 4 derby in Carrick-on-Shannon.

Leitrim enjoyed a 0-7 to 0-5 half-time lead and pulled five points in front by the 45th minute. But Longford gradually eroded the deficit over the next 14 minutes through two Brian Kavanagh converted frees and points from Michael Quinn, Sean McCormack and Francis McGee.

Fergal Clancy and Kevin Conlan (free) put Leitrim back in front but a Sean McCormack goal looked to have snatched the spoints for Longford, before McWeeney’s late leveller.
