The man charged with keeping a cool head amid the cold temperatures yesterday was the servicing officer of the Munster Post-Primary Schools GAA, John Brennan.

There had been 10 games — including three Dr Harty Cup quarter-finals — under the organisation’s jurisdiction scheduled for yesterday but the bad weather meant all of them were postponed early in the day. Brennan admits that it was his toughest day in the role, weather-wise.

“I had been lucky in the previous two years since I took over the role,” Brennan said, “until this week there hadn’t been anything like that number of games called off. It’s definitely the most in one go but it’s out of your control, you get on with it.
