GAA president Liam O’Neill has ruled out any plans to discard the National League and maintained it remains a fundamental part of the inter-county season.

O’Neill was responding to comments made in Boston by Dublin manager Jim Gavin, who would prefer to see an extended Championship.

The exchange comes in the week the association’s management committee will be briefed on plans to change the schedule of the GAA season.
