Wexford hurler Andrew Shore has been hit with a 48-week ban by the Warwickshire County Board for lining out in a British club match.

“I have not received any notification. The hearing was on Saturday last but I’m told that it’s a 48-week ban. It’s about playing a game in England,” revealed Shore.

The Wexford hurler, who plays his club hurling and football with Dublin side Parnells, is unsure if the suspension applies to both club and county.

Efforts to contact the Warwickshire County Board proved unsuccessful yesterday.

Shore enjoyed an impressive summer in the purple and gold, the half-back producing a string of fine performances as Wexford returned to the quarter-final juncture.

“I spoke with the player on Sunday night. He is of the opinion that the ban only applies to club and not county,” said Wexford chairman Diarmuid Devereux.

“We will have to await the paperwork before deciding on a course of action. We don’t know what we can do, or cannot do, at the moment, as we have no paperwork.”
