Leahy strikes late for Midleton
The captain collected a sideline, fended off the Clonmel chasers before dissecting the uprights. The sides were tied seven times before the Killeagh wing forward intervened.
Cork minor John Looney managed four points from play for the winners with Kevin O’Sullivan and Sean O’Connor holding firm in defence. Tipperary minor Ross Peters (0-7) did cause disruption for Clonmel and inter-county colleague Paul Maher led a sturdy half-back line. The High School shaded a cagey first half hour (0-6 to 0-5). Kevin O’Sullivan acted as sweeper for Midleton and cleared plenty of ball but Paul Maher disrupted attacks at the other side. John Looney carried Midleton’s sole attacking threat. He posted the opener within 32 seconds and added a super solo on 11 mins.
