The county board are expected to announce Anthony Daly’s successor in the coming days with former Cork coach Ger Cunningham impressing the selection committee.

“You’ve seen it with Anthony Daly,” said Sutcliffe. “It’s worked well for us that he’s come in. You say tradition — we needed someone there who had won All-Irelands. He obviously had a template himself and he tried to put it [in place for us] and we nearly got there... we didn’t.
