Michael Cussen is hoping to play some part in the Cork SHC final for his club Sarsfields after he had a pin removed from his thumb.

The former Cork hurler and footballer has been out of action since suffering a fracture in the fourth-round win over Carrigdhoun but will return to light training tonight. Sars face either Douglas or Glen Rovers — who drew their semi-final on Sunday, and will replay on Saturday — in the final on October 12 as they seek to win a fourth title in six years.

Cussen yesterday tweeted a picture of the thumb just prior the removal of the pin, along with the caption, “The joys of the game! All ready to come out..”
