Tipperary football chairman Joe Hannigan last night hailed the new Munster senior football championship as "the most equitable option."

Describing the Munster Council’s decision in Limerick yesterday evening to back the province’s competitions control committee’s unanimous support for Tipperary’s proposal as “mighty”, Hannigan said all six counties can now look forward to the 2015 season.

In next month’s Championship draw, Tipperary, along with Clare, Limerick and Waterford, will comprise next year’s quarter-finals and the pairings will be made in an open draw.
