Boland in line to replace Daly

Former Dublin minor and U21 manager Shay Boland is in line to replace Anthony Daly as senior boss, the Irish Examiner understands.

Boland in line to replace Daly

Former inter-county defender Boland, who guided Dublin to back-to-back minor All-Ireland finals in 2011 and ‘12, is the favoured option of the board’s executive.

The Oliver Plunketts/Eoghan Ruadh man has also worked with U17 teams and other development squads in the county. The Dublin County Board want the new manager to agree to a three-year term and they value Boland’s top-to-bottom knowledge of Dublin hurling not to mention his ability to succeed with the 2011 and ‘12 minors who are now available at senior level.

Boland replaced John Henderson as U21 manager in 2012 before stepping down after one season.

Chairman Andy Kettle has said he would prefer to have Daly’s successor named this month.
