After a congested July, Waterford minor boss Derek Lyons hopes to have his troops fresh for the challenge of Kilkenny in Sunday’s SHC semi-final curtain-raiser at Croke Park.

Last month, the Déise contested two Munster finals and an All-Ireland quarter-final plus a round of minor club championship fixtures. By contrast, opponents Kilkenny have been idle for five weeks since defeating Dublin in the Leinster final.

“We’ve had a lot of hard games the last number of weeks,” said Lyons.
