Mayo chairman Paddy McNicholas has hit out at the comments of the Cork management labelling the westerners as "good at tactical fouling" and "extremely streetwise".

Meath’s Cormac Reilly has been handed the whistle for Sunday’s All-Ireland SFC quarter-final, with Cork manager Brian Cuthbert this week calling for a strong referee to police an “extremely streetwise” Mayo outfit. Cork selector Ronan McCarthy has added fuel to the fire, branding the Mayo forwards as experts in ‘tactical fouling’.

But the Mayo chairman last night rejected the comments, insisting there has never been a cynical element to Mayo’s style of play, particularly during James Horan’s term.
