Ballyduff pull clear with wind at backs

The Kerry heavyweight clash of Ballyduff and Causeway lived up to all pre-match expectations with the sides producing a thrilling spectacle at Austin Stack Park yesterday.
Causeway sprung from the traps and raced 1-6 to 1-0 clear after 15 minutes with John Mike Dooley’s goal coming after a series of points from Paul McGrath and Jason Leahy.
Ballyduff’s goal came from one of their most influential players — Pádraig Boyle firing low to the net after a powerful 50-yard run.
Causeway kept their noses in front before Ballyduff finished the half with a devastating surge.
Points from Barry O’Grady and Bobby O’Sullivan arrived either side of a Jack Goulding goal which meant only a point separated the sides at the interval (1-7 to 2-3) as Ballyduff turned to play with the wind.
Causeway could only manage three points in the second period, all from McGrath, as Ballyduff assumed control all over the field.
Mickey Boyle’s goal in the 42nd minute was the icing on the cake, while subs Kevin O’Connor and PJ Connolly also impressed on their introduction and weighed in with valuable points.
Meanwhile, the third round draw has pitted Crotta O’Neill’s against Ballyduff while Lixnaw will face Abbeydorney. The games are fixed for Saturday in Austin Stack Park.
