We’ve got a new toilet! GAA club’s cheeky bid to host Garth
In an open letter to Aitken Promotions, which it published on Twitter, Cavan club Killinkere offered to host the two cancelled shows and made a strong case for its suitability as a venue.
“Our facilities have been upgraded no end in recent years and we have recently built a new stand and installed a toilet.”
While parking issues have been a major problem for the Croke Park Area Residents Association, which objected to the gigs, Killinkere are confident there will be no such difficulties on their patch.
“There’s ample parking as it will coincide with the second cut of silage and there’ll be fields aplenty nearby to abandon cars in,” the letter continued.

And in case the likes of Shane Filan and Nathan Carter on the Brooks undercard have any difficulties with the change of venue, the resourceful club even offered to source its own back-up performers for the bill, while remaining extremely flexible with its commercial terms.
“Support acts to Garth can be provided if necessary and the number of raffles held during the gig is negotiable.”
Seems there are no unanswered prayers after all.
