One Direction put GAA on the move

The GAA is moving this weekend’s management committee and Central Council meetings away from Croke Park because of the One Direction concerts.

One Direction put GAA on the move

Friday evening’s Coiste Bainisti and Saturday’s Ard Chomhairle gatherings will instead take place at the CityWest Hotel in Saggart, Co Dublin.

The decision was made by GAA Director General Páraic Duffy’s office after consultation with stadium and commercial director Peter McKenna, who will help oversee the three sold-out gigs, starting tomorrow and finishing on Sunday.

GAA head of media relations Alan Milton said: “Access to the stadium is restricted for the concerts and, to ensure ease of access for both bodies, the venue has been changed.”

The band’s three tour dates will see more than 200,000 people visit Croke Park this weekend, generating more than €2m for the GAA.
