Dubs ace hoping to link up with Sky

Dublin’s Bernard Brogan has held talks with Sky Sports and hopes to work with them in the coming months. But the double All-Ireland winner wasn’t giving away too much about the details of the potential collaboration.

“I met them with my company, Legacy. So we met them on a professional basis to see can we help them out. It was a positive meeting and hopefully we can work with them over the summer. But, sure, if I told you what we said there’d be no point in us talking.”

Brogan established Legacy with his cousin, James, in 2012 and they describe themselves on their website as a “specialist professional consultancy firm providing talent representation, sponsorship consultancy and event management services to clients in the sports and entertainment industries”.

Former Ipswich Town and Dublin goalkeeper Shane Supple is also involved in the company whose services include reputation management and playing and sponsorship contract negotiations.

Brogan says he was impressed with Sky’s launch on Monday at which they announced the line-up for their first season of GAA coverage.

Jamesie O’Connor will be the lead hurling analyst while Peter Canavan and Paul Earley head up the football punditry team.

“They’ve good guys. Canavan and Earley, sound guys, good opinions. I’m sure they’ll bring their own little twist, and make it special.”

Brogan, meanwhile, says his recent injury troubles might turn out to be something of a blessing.

“A rest is nearly as good as anything. I know we’ve all probably gone into games with little niggles here and there. Sometimes you play well, sometimes you don’t. But coming back from the injury this year, I feel 100%. I haven’t felt like that for two or three years. Hopefully, I can keep the body right and give it 100% come championship.”
