Durcan: Mark could return

Paul Durcan believes Mark McHugh’s surprise decision to quit the Donegal panel is far from a permanent parting of the ways.

Donegal were quick to deny any trouble in the squad after four players – McHugh, Gary McFadden, Antoin McFadden and Thomas McKinley – decided recently to leave the 2012 All-Ireland winners.

“Training has been going very well and we haven’t noticed a change.

“In fairness it was a trough call for Mark to make but you have to respect it and we will move on ourselves.

“The boys made it clear the door is never closed for anyone.

“Mark has been a huge part of Donegal football the last few years, but we have something to do now and that’s beat Derry.

“We will move on ourselves and try and put that to the back of our heads.”
