Nemo connect four

Nemo Rangers 2-19 Douglas 0-17(after extra-time)

Nemo connect four

The odds were stacked against them when midfielder Alan O’Donovan was red-carded in the 18th minute and with Douglas pushing them all the way, it took extra-time to decide this fabulous contest.

Nemo were dominant, 0-7 to 0-2 ahead, before the sending off. Their inside-forward line was causing all sorts of problems. However, by half-time the margin was reduced to one (0-7 to 0-6), primarily through the brilliant point-taking of Alan Cadogan — the full forward finished with 11 points.

Douglas faced a stiff breeze in the second half but critically they outscored their opponents five points to one during a pulsating final quarter. Nemo were uncharacteristically profligate as Cadogan kicked the levelling point from a free in stoppage time.

With 15 players on the field, Nemo battled back in extra- time. Douglas had emptied the tank by the time Ciarán Dalton and Barry Madden notched the match-winning goals in the 67th and 70th minute. Conor Horgan finished with three points while sub Brian Kennedy played an important role in both goals. Chiedozie Ogbene worked hard throughout but a solid overall team effort that saw the champions over the line.
