Pat Holmes stepped down as Castlebar Mitchels manager on Tuesday night.

The former Mayo manager, who guided the county to a national league title and U21 All-Ireland, took over from Peter Ford and Tommy O’Malley in 2011.

Holmes originally took the job for 12 months but stayed on for a second year as the club went on to win Mayo and Connacht titles.
