Cork chairman Bob Ryan has called on Central Council to refer a decision on penalties and 20-metre frees to the forthcoming hurling forum.

Ryan was pleased the “Anthony Nash motion” to prevent free and penalty takers from the act of striking the ball past the 20m line was withdrawn from last month’s Congress.

However, an interpretation of the existing rule at Saturday’s meeting could still mean the likes of Nash will be instructed not to lift the ball past the 20m line in the process of hitting it.
