Críost Rí may act after ref’s card error

The fallout from the first black card officiating error looks set to hold up Munster’s Corn Uí Mhuirí football competition.

Críost Rí may act after ref’s card error

Losers Coláiste Chríost Rí are expected to lodge an objection following Wednesday’s quarter-final defeat to Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne when referee Kevin Walsh blundered in not sending off a Corca Dhuibhne player.

The row centres around Walsh’s decision to allow substitute Gareth Ó Brosnacháin replace Barra Ó Súilleabháin. The Kerry school’s captain Ó Súilleabháin received a yellow card in the first half and was black carded on 46 minutes. Under the new rules, the midfielder should have received a red card following his second cautioning, but the ref not only failed to flash the red card but permitted a replacement. Munster colleges servicing officer John Brennan said the Cork school contacted him to clarify procedure to lodge a complaint.
