Walsh and Cadogan all-clear

Cork will have Aidan Walsh and Eoin Cadogan available for Sunday’s McGrath Cup final with Kerry in Mallow (2pm).

Walsh missed Sunday’s semi-final mauling of UL as he was away on holidays while Cadogan was absent from the 6-16 to 0-7 win due to study leave. Cork manager Brian Cuthbert has confirmed the availability of the duo — both of whom will also play hurling for the county in 2014 — for the decider.

Following the retirements of Alan O’Connor, Pearse O’Neill and Graham Canty, Walsh is Cork’s most experienced midfielder and his return is to be welcomed by the management ahead of next month’s league.

Cadogan is likely to revert to the full-back spot he occupied in the first-round game against LIT, allowing Tomás Clancy to be used further out the field.

Sunday’s game will be the first final between the Munster rivals since 2006, when Cork won by 1-9 to 0-6.

Kerry have not lost a game in the competition since then, winning it the three times they have entered in the interim, 2010, ’11 and ’13.
