Cork manager Eamonn Ryan blasted the local fixtures schedule as “ludicrous” when several inter-county players were forced to a play a county semi-final just two days after overcoming Kerry in the penultimate round of the All-Ireland championship last September.

Keane said blame did not entirely rest with the county board executive as clubs were also guilty of not fulfilling fixtures on the dates they were fixed for.
