Ballinamere claim historic victory

Ballinamere (Offaly) 2-08 Lisdowney (Kilkenny) 0-13

The Offaly men roared into the game and were eight points clear at one stage in the first half but Lisdowney slowly whittled the lead down and were level with 12 minutes remaining. However Ballinamere showed great heart to regain the lead and hold out for a historic win.

Ballinamere had a dream start with Paddy Murphy’s second minute goal with star man Stephen Weir netting three minutes later. Lisdowney were slow to settle and didn’t get their first score from play until the 19th minute.
