Outrage is something the GAA media is no stranger to expressing so it’s only fair to be on the receiving end of it from time to time.

We speak of the destination of last week’s All Star awards. Shane O’Neill, Colin Ryan, Paul Murphy, Ger Cafferkey and Cillian O’Connor were all serious contenders but missed out.

This column spoke to one of those who lost out at Friday’s awards ceremony and learned through an intermediary the reaction of another to his absence from the selected.

Neither were displeased.

Both are humble men and, having been privy to the selection debate, unfortunate to miss out.

Several of their supporters were upset, which was understandable. But more might have been expected from those within the media itself who described the teams as farces. Then again...
