Kerry trainer in hurling SOS

“There is no real thought given to the development of hurling in weaker counties.” So says Kerry hurling trainer Tom Howard.

Howard, a native of Clarecastle in Clare, was speaking to the Irish Examiner after the announcement of the GAA’s Champions 15 award winners honouring the best players in the 2013 Christy Ring, Nicky Rackard and Lory Meagher hurling championships.

Howard — disappointed by the omission of Kerry’s Daniel Collins and Brendan O’Leary from the Christy Ring 15 — feels finishing so early in the year shows these championships are an afterthought for the GAA.
