Ciarán Sheehan: Lure of Oz irresistible

Ciarán Sheehan has described his move to AFL outfit Carlton Blues as an opportunity he couldn’t turn down.

Although the departures of 30-somethings Noel O’Leary, Graham Canty, Paudie Kissane, Alan Quirke and Pearse O’Neill were expected, 22-year-old Sheehan’s decision to go to Australia has come as a shock in Cork GAA circles, despite a flirtation with the AFL earlier in his career.

“It’s a great opportunity that I didn’t want to turn down,” Sheehan told thescore.ie, adding: “I thought a lot about it and didn’t take the decision lightly.
