The opening 12 minutes were even, with both sides trading points, but Blackrock then got to grips with their rivals and added 1-6 to lead 1-10-to 0-5 at half time.

Stephen Murphy got the crucial goal seven minutes before the break after a great solo run.

Cork panellist Rob O’Shea was Carrigaline’s main scorer, while goalkeeper Robert Foster brought off some fine saves in the opening stages of the second half. However, once Blackrock’s ace marksman Kevin O’Keeffe goaled in the 40th minute there was no way back for the Carrigdhoun side.
