Ryan confirmed as new boss of Kildare

Former Wexford manager Jason Ryan was last night ratified as manager of the Kildare football team for the next three years.

Kildare County Board chairman John McMahon confirmed 10 people were on a shortlist when looking for a successor to Kieran McGeeney and three were involved in serious discussions for the role.

Ryan’s name though was the one McMahon presented to the clubs with the full backing of his executive committee, significant considering their was a split vote on the executive committee when it came to a vote on McGeeney’s future at last month’s meeting.
