Lane to the rescue for Rovers
Lisgoold will wonder how they let this opportunity slip. In extra time, John Cashman appeared to have scored the winning goal but Kieran Lane levelled with a free five minutes into stoppage time.
Cashman helped Lisgoold into a 0-4 to 0-1 lead after 25 minutes but a John O’Connor goal tied matters.
Brendan Barry then received a second yellow card before a Lane free in the eighth minute of injury time edged Glenbower, chasing a third successive crown, in front 1-2 to 0-4 at the break. Prior to this Joe Deane went off injured while Glenbower were also without Seamus Harnedy who took a knock in a hurling game the night before.
In the second half Eoin O’Sullivan fired for a point but Cian Fogarty replied and it was not until a minute from time that Cashman landed the equaliser for Lisgoold.
Glenbower reintroduced Stephen Murphy as the 15th player in extra time and his point restored their lead. Cashman then appeared to have secured the win for Lisgoold with his goal only for Lane to fire a brilliant equalising free.
