It was 0-8 to 0-5 in favour of Kilmessan at the interval and although the deficit was pared down to two points in the third quarter, Longwood were unable to push on.
Goals from the experienced pair of Steven Clynch, who did not start because of injury, and Nicky Horan were crucial for Kilmessan for whom Darren Reilly fired nine points from placed balls.
