Milford and ‘Collig set for decider

Defending county champions Milford and first time finalists Ballincollig will meet in next Sunday’s Cork senior camogie championship decider following victories over Douglas and Killeagh respectively on Saturday.

Milford and ‘Collig set for decider

Milford, who claimed the All-Ireland senior club title earlier this year, proved too strong for Douglas, 5-12 to 3-7. The bulk of the damage was done in a wind-assisted opening half with Marie O’Neill firing an incredible 3-5 to set the North Cork side up for a commanding 4-8 to 0-4 interval advantage.

However, and despite the uphill task, Douglas battled back bravely and were rewarded with three second half goals from Katrina Mackey, Amanda O’Regan and Ciara Lynch. But Milford raised another green flag too, from Maura Flanagan, to seal their passage to the final.

Ballincollig meanwhile, came out on top in the other semi-final following a hard-earned 0-14 to 2-6 triumph over Killeagh. First half goals from Leah McEvoy and Hannah Looney gave the East Cork side the edge at half-time, but, never-say-die Ballincollig tightened up in defence and with excellent point-taking from Denise Cronin, Linda Dorgan and Jess Harrington they emerged victorious.
