Clare’s All-Ireland winning hero Shane O’Donnell returned to competitive action at the weekend but didn’t manage a score.

The Éire Óg hurler featured in his club’s facile 3-23 to 0-7 hammering of Smith O’Brien’s in the Clare senior B championship but while he played well, he didn’t feature on the scoring charts. The Ennis club led 1-12 to 0-3 at half-time, having played into the breeze.

Hurler of the year nominee Tony Kelly helped Ballyea to a 2-17 to 0-12 win over Wolfe Tones.

Play was held up for 10 minutes when Wolfe Tones Daithí O’Connell was treated for an injury. Ballyea led 0-9 to 0-6 at half-time. Also in the Senior B, goals from Gary Neville and Jamie Lynch helped secure a 4-14 to 1-16 win for O’Callaghan’s Mills over Ruan.
