Jim Gavin dismissed criticism of his side’s cynical fouling towards the end of yesterday’s All-Ireland final and claimed his Dublin players had been unfairly penalised by referees all season.

Dublin picked up four yellow cards in the last ten minutes of the decider as Mayo players were time and again pulled down by opponents making little or no attempt to play the ball.

In total, they were penalised 32 times by Joe McQuillan against Mayo’s 12 and Gavin was adamant such an imbalance was rough justice on his side.
