Maher turns it on for Borris-Ileigh
Maher scored 12 points and looked a class apart as Borris grabbed two first-half goals against the strong wind to trail by 2-3 to 0-10 at the interval. Conor Kenny and Keith Ryan were the marksmen. With Maher deadly accurate, Borris ran into an eight points lead by the three quarter stage (2-12 to 0-10) but a Conor O’Brien goal in the the 47 minute, followed immediately by a Paudie O’Dwyer point raised Éire Óg hopes.
However, Maher added four further points in the closing minutes for a comfortable win for Borris.
