Hammersley saves Clonoulty

Wind-aided Clonoulty were well on top, but erratic shooting cost them scores. John O’Neill had an 11th minute goal as they forged an interval lead of 1-6 to 0-4 but lost wingback James Heffernan to a red card on the stroke of half-time.

Kildangan, helped by three Tadgh Gallagher points, drew level with 12 minutes to go. Hammersley restored Clonoulty’s lead but a brace of Ruairi Gleeson points had Kildangan ahead with time running out. As the game headed towards stoppage time, Clonoulty’s Fiachra O’Keeffe was fouled and Hammersley pointed his sixth free of the day to earn Clonoulty a second chance.
