Tourlestrane, Tubbercurry in title battle

Title favourites Tourlestrane will square off against south Sligo neighbours Tubbercurry in the SFC final following their respective decisive semi-final victories at the weekend.

Tourlestrane crushed defending champions Curry 0-14 to 0-4 at Kilcoyne Park, with the midfield dominance of Eamonn O’Hara and Adrian McIntyre providing the platform.

Backed by the breeze in the opening period, Tourlestrane led by eight points at the break, 0-9 to 0-1, despite kicking 10 wides.

Curry, a lesser side without Brian McDonagh and Kenny Morley, threatened a comeback but Adrian Marren, their only scorer, saw his 35th minute goal chance clip the crossbar and go over.

Brian Egan top-scored for Tourlestrane while Sligo minor Cathal Henry also impressed in a one-sided encounter.

Tubbercurry proved much too strong for St Molaise Gaels, winning 1-15 to 0-8, at Markievicz Park on Saturday.

Brilliant full-forward Colm McGee notched 1-7, having got the decisive touch to David Kelly’s point attempt for a 28th minute goal that gave Tubbercurry a 1-7 to 0-5 half-time lead.

Aside from a forceful spell in the opening period, Gaels lacked the firepower to unsettle their opponents.
